Product Introduction

The ASME B16.9 standard is a standard issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) entitled “Factory-Made Wrought Steel Butt-welding Fittings”. This standard specifies requirements for dimensions, manufacturing methods, materials, and inspections of steel welded and seamless standard shape fittings for connecting and converting the direction and size of pipes in piping systems.

The ASME B16.9 standard is applicable to steel welded and seamless standard shape pipe fittings, including elbows, reducers, equal diameter pipes, flanges, tees, crosses, etc., for connecting and converting the direction and size of pipes.
The ASME B16.9 standard also stipulates the nominal diameter range of pipe fittings, from 1/2 inch to 48 inches, that is, DN15 to DN1200, and the nominal thickness is from SCH 5S to SCH XXS.

Manufacturing method:
This standard specifies the methods of fabrication of steel welded and seamless standard shape fittings. For welded pipe fittings, the manufacturing process includes cold forming, hot forming, welding, etc.; for seamless pipe fittings, the manufacturing process is usually by hot rolling, cold drawing or cold punching.

Material requirements:
The standard specifies the material requirements for pipe fittings, covering carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, etc. The material of the pipe fittings must meet the chemical composition, mechanical performance and physical property requirements specified in the standard.

Elbow is a common pipe connection fitting used to change the direction of the pipe. It is usually formed by pipe bends and can join pipes of different orientations or different planes, allowing the piping system to bypass obstacles or change the direction of flow where needed.

Elbows are classified into different types according to the angle, the most common are 90 degree elbow and 45 degree elbow.

Classification:
1. 90 degree elbow: This is the most common type of elbow used to turn the pipe in a right angle (90 degree) direction. It is the most common pipe connection elbow.
2. 45-degree elbow: This type of elbow turns the pipe in a 45-degree direction. It is usually used where a smaller bend angle is required.
Elbows with other angles: In addition to the 90-degree and 45-degree elbows, there are other angled elbows, such as 30-degree, 60-degree, etc., for specific applications.
