Do you know the RTJ type flange?

RTJ flange is a type of flange used in pipeline connections. RTJ is the abbreviation for Ring Type Joint, which means ring sealing gasket.

RTJ flanges are usually made of metal with special circular grooves and bevels on the flange surface. This structure can maintain good sealing performance of the flange under high temperature and pressure conditions.

RTJ flanges are commonly used in fields such as petrochemical, natural gas transportation, and shipbuilding, and need to withstand harsh conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, and strong corrosion. They are usually connected to equipment such as pipelines, valves, and pumps, and play an important role in various engineering projects.

Common flange types include welding neck flange, integral flange, blind flange, and American standard neck welded flange
Common international standards are
ANSI B16.5
ASME B16.47 Series A
ASME B16.47 Series B
BS 3293

The RTJ flange standard is developed based on the following standards:
1. API pipeline down joint (RTJ2 standard: R-2, R-3, R4, R5, and R-6)
2. International standard centimeter series: M-1, M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5, and M-6

However, it should be noted that there may be differences between RTJ flanges of different standards, and suitable models and specifications should be selected according to actual needs when using them.
The characteristic of RTJ flange standards is the requirement for thickness, which is mainly divided into ordinary and high-strength types. The thickness requirement for the regular type is 100mm, while the thickness for the high-strength type is higher, which can reach 120mm or higher.

There are some special requirements in the RTJ flange standard, for example, certain types of joints may require a reinforcement area at the end of the joint at the notch during installation to avoid sliding. Some special types of joints, such as very high-pressure joints, may also require the installation of a spring side to increase the axial force.

The RTJ flange standard makes it possible to connect pipelines and other high-pressure equipment, making the entire system safer, more reliable, and more durable. It has an extremely wide range of applications and can meet various types of application requirements in different fields. From an operational perspective, one of the advantages of this standard is that it reduces the mechanical connection time of pipelines during installation and repair, and can greatly increase the length of pipelines while ensuring safe connection, making operation safer.
